Biogas Opportunities Roadmap
Methane is both a potent greenhouse gas and a valuable source of energy. In the Climate Action Plan, President Obama directed the Administration to develop a comprehensive, interagency strategy to reduce methane emissions. In March 2014, the White House released the Climate Action Plan – Strategy to Reduce Methane Emissions. As part of the Strategy, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) committed to work with industry leaders to formulate a biogas roadmap. From Grassland Restoration to Renewable Energy.
Some ideas come out of the blue. But an idea taking shape in the hog barns and rolling hills of northern Missouri came out of the green–the grasslands revered by an entrepreneur, industrialist, and dedicated conservationist. Missouri Prairie Foundation (MPF) technical advisor Rudi Roeslein loves native prairie for its beauty and unique set of ecological services. Now Roeslein is staking his reputation on an ambitious goal of returning 30 million acres of highly erodible land to native grasslands in 30 years.
