Smithfield Foods has announced its nationwide commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 25% by 2025. A year after starting Smithfield Renewables, the company plans to extend its “manure-to-energy” projects beyond North Carolina to hog finishing spaces in Missouri and Utah.
Rudi Roeslein, founder of Roeslein & Associates and Roeslein Alternative Energy, received the 2018 Saint Louis University Alumni Merit Award. Saint Louis University honors distinguished graduates in recognition of their outstanding achievements, dedication to a chosen profession, and commitment to the mission of the University. The National Alumni Board, Development Division, and SLU leadership from twelve SLU schools and colleges select the winners.

Roeslein Alternative Energy (RAE) was founded in 2012 as an operator and developer of renewable energy production facilities that converts agricultural and industrial wastes along with renewable biomass feedstocks to renewable natural gas and sustainable co-products.
It is with heavy hearts that we remember Bill T. Crawford – if it were not for Bill, and the men and women who worked tirelessly and often at great adversity alongside him, we would not be enjoying the wildlife heritage we have. They provided a model for the rest of our country that is still the best practice to be followed and improved upon. We need more people like Bill to carry the torch for future generations.
Roeslein Alternative Energy’s Director, Chris Roach will speak at the St. Louis Science Center on Thursday, July 27th at 6:30-7:30 as part of the GROW exhibit’s Science at Sunset series. Roach will speak on how agricultural and industrial wastes are converted into renewable natural gases.
